Adrenaline once again kicked off the summer events season with the highly touted Black Card and Platinum Cup weekend which took place at the state-of-the-art D.E Sports Complex in Frederica, DE. With invited national powerhouse programs traveling east to compete with the best, stakes were high since winning a division title meant you also earned bragging rights as one of the best programs in the country.

Competition ramped up Friday morning with the Black Card Showcase. Each player received head-to-toe custom Adrenaline gear in black, green and white colors that are quinessentially Adrenaline. Outfits varied in color dominance which corresponded to the players’ grad year to make it more easily detected by college coaches. The highly selective rosters were made up of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 players who competed within their own grad year division. 100+ college coaches lined the sidelines for a picture perfect lacrosse day, which set the standard for high collegiate exposure all weekend long. Be on the lookout for more recaps and player coverage from Inside Lacrosse and Lacrosse All Stars!

Saturday marked the first day of Platinum Cup where teams from all over the U.S- PA, NY, NJ, CA, OH, MD, DE, NC, CO, MA, TX and more- faced-off in arguably the most competitive tournament of the summer. Despite a more than casual weather delay (see here for some extra-curricular fun while teams waited out the storm), Adrenaline is thankful to be working with the top facilities in the nation such as D.E Turf Complex, which allowed us to resume games into the late evening under the lights, and continue through Sunday for the much anticipated play-off games.

Seventeen teams from across all six divisions went undefeated in Day 1 with a 3-0 record. Among those teams, only four- WCS ’19, WCS ’20, Igloo Black Ice ’21, WCS 22 Blue- continued their unwavering streak to go undefeated on the weekend and take home a championship title in their respective division. This year every division except one had new champions crowned than in 2017, which speaks volumes to the incredible competition level at the event. At the 2023 division, Brotherly Love 2023 Zeus squeezed past the fellow undefeated Igloo Black Diamond 2023 team, who then fell short 4-3 to the talented Shore 2 Shore team. In the youngest division, another Brotherly Love 2024 Zeus team breezed by the undefeated Looneys 2024 Orange- Haus team. BBL Elite 2024 then edged out their last opponent, taking down Brotherly Love in the championship to claim the #1 seed! All teams who participated in the 2022 (14U), 2023 (13U), and 2024(12U) divisions earned points toward the USL Youth Nationals tournament coming up this August. “I think the competition at this year’s event set a new standard for the summer event circuit.  Congratulations to all the great programs in attendance.  The play was hard and fair and at a level I have not seen before.  The fact that we had new champions in all but one division than the previous year with last year’s champions still in attendance speaks volumes about the level of play at this event. What an exciting weekend,” says Adrenaline CEO, Alex Cade.

Four different programs went home Platinum Cup Division Champions, with West Coast Starz making a statement for western lacrosse by nabbing three titles. Find all the division champions here!
